Exams Facilitator Job Description

Hours Required:

Examinations take place all year and length of sessions can vary, although you will always need to be available for the beginning of each session and for its duration. We are looking for people who can commit to 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday.


£13,500 plus expenses at 40p a mile


To ensure a calm environment which will give the learners the best possible opportunity to be successful in their exams.

To help organise learners at the start and end of each exam, including the setup of the room and any laptops.

To provide the correct information and material for successful completion of the exam.

To help ensure that the conduct of the exam takes place within the guidelines set down by the awarding body. (relevant documents will be supplied)

To be vigilant, whilst not disrupting the candidates.

To refer to the functional skills manager if it is suspected that malpractice is taking place.

Main Duties:

To ensure that learners do not leave an examination during the first hour or last half hour of an examination. (unless escorted for exceptional reasons: always check with the functional skills manager).

To check at the start of an examination that the correct paperwork and examination materials have been supplied

To ensure all examinations have been completed correctly, and to help ensure that the learner is familiar with the equipment being used. In some cases, this may require the viewing of an online tutorial.

To help in the collection of exam papers or ending of electronic tests, and ensuring all relevant paperwork has been completed.

In the event of any discrepancy or irregularity in the progress of an examination, to give a verbal/ written report to the Functional skills manager.

Personal Qualities:

Good command of written and spoken English.

Be confident and able to communicate with colleagues and learners.

Good team member capable of working on own initiative.

Any successful candidate should have a full UK driver’s license and access to a car.

Areas covered include: Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and London
