Job Title: Specialist SEMH Teacher
Location: BH8, Bournemouth (Library-based)
Hours: Part-time, 6 hours, with the option to support an additional nearby student should full-time hours be preferred.
Pay: £30-35 per hour PAYE
Times: Mornings 9am-12pm Wednesday and Friday
Contract: Flexible daytime hours
Subjects: KS3 Maths, English and Science
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Specialist SEN Teacher to provide 1:1 tuition and emotional support to a Year 9 female student who is currently unable to attend mainstream education due to significant mental health challenges, developmental trauma, ASD/ADHD, and attachment needs. Tuition will be delivered in a quiet library environment, focusing on KS3 Maths, English and Science, with opportunities to integrate her interests in art, music and geography.
The successful professional will adopt a trauma-informed, nurturing, and relational approach, balancing academic learning with emotional regulation, confidence-building, and gentle re-engagement with education. A female teacher is required for this role, in line with the student's needs and safety considerations.

Responsibilities:
- Create a calm, predictable and emotionally safe learning environment
- Deliver personalised lessons in Maths, English and Science at an appropriate KS3 level
- Integrate her strengths and interests into learning to build engagement
- Provide a hybrid academic and nurture-based programme
- Support emotional regulation, confidence and self-esteem
- Use trauma-informed, relational practice to build trust and stability
- Complete session reports and maintain safeguarding standards
- Work collaboratively with families and professionals
Requirements:
- QTS or equivalent (e.g., PGCE)
- Strong SEN experience, particularly with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and trauma-informed practice
- Ability to teach KS3 Maths, English and Science
- Experience working with emotionally vulnerable or dysregulated young people
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
- Right to work in the UK
- A gentle, patient and relational approach
- Female professional required due to student's needs
- Driver with Business Insurance
