About Our School
Join us at an exciting time as we continue to grow and develop! We are seeking a passionate Tutor to support curriculum delivery and take on the role of cover supervisor. Located in Headingley, Ormston School provides a safe and nurturing environment for young people with special educational needs and disabilities, aged 5 to 18 years.

Role Responsibilities
- Support the improvement of wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management within Ormston School.
- Collaborate with the education team to help young people overcome barriers to learning.
- Promote positive learning behaviours among students.
- Lead classes during PPA and absence cover.
- Deliver engaging enrichment activities.
- Assist in lessons with academic understanding or pastoral, emotional, or behavioural needs.
- Address immediate concerns and clarify situations as they arise.
- Create and compile information related to lessons and interventions.
- Prepare relevant information for meetings about pupils.
- Advocate for the ethos of Ormston School.
- Lead interventions, including reading and phonics, while reviewing student progress.
- Develop the role of Pupil Voice and liaise with SLT about the Pupil Council.
- Build relationships with parents/carers, actively participating in transitions and consultations.
- Lead ELSA sessions and complete training with the local authority.
Requirements
- Strong basic education with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, along with sound IT skills.
- Previous experience in a similar role (e.g., HLTA, Cover Supervisor).
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH/Autism in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques.
- Commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to starting work.
