Exciting times are ahead at Ormston School! As we grow and evolve, we’re on the lookout for a passionate Tutor to join our dedicated team. Your role will be pivotal in supporting curriculum delivery and stepping in as a cover supervisor when needed.
Located in the vibrant area of Headingley, we provide a safe and nurturing environment for young people aged 5 to 18 with special educational needs and disabilities. Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Tutor, you will:
- Enhance wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behavior management.
- Collaborate with the education team to support students' personal and academic growth.
- Encourage positive learning behaviors among young people.
- Lead classes during PPA and absence cover.
- Deliver engaging enrichment activities.
- Assist in lessons, addressing academic and emotional needs.
- Respond to immediate concerns and clarify situations.
- Create and compile information related to lessons and interventions.
- Prepare relevant information for pupil meetings.
- Advocate for the ethos of Ormston School.
- Lead interventions, including reading and phonics, while tracking progress.
- Develop the Pupil Voice initiative in collaboration with SLT.
- Build relationships with parents/carers, actively participating in transitions.
- Lead ELSA sessions and complete local authority training.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
- Experience in a similar role (e.g., HLTA, Cover Supervisor).
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH/Autism in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques.
- A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
