Your Role

As a Senior Engineer within Kier Design, you will lead the delivery of civil and structural engineering services across a variety of infrastructure projects. You’ll be instrumental in developing safe, buildable Permanent Works solutions, supporting tenders and live projects, and collaborating closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams. Are You…

  • An experienced engineer capable of leading Permanent Works design to deliver safe, buildable solutions?
  • Confident in managing Civil & Structural packages across infrastructure projects, from concept to delivery?
  • Comfortable acting as a Lead Designer, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing design inputs/outputs?
  • Passionate about working for a collaborative, trusted, and delivery-focused organization?

Do You…

  • Hold a professional qualification (CEng/IEng) or equivalent experience, along with a full UK driving license?
  • Have experience delivering civil and structural Permanent Works design for infrastructure projects?
  • Support tenders and bids with outline designs, feasibility input, and buildability-focused concepts?

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will be a key player in the Structures & Geotechnical team, ensuring the delivery of safe, buildable, and cost-effective solutions from concept to delivery. Your daily tasks will include:

  • Leading Permanent Works design across Kier Design's infrastructure portfolio.
  • Providing technical input to bids with innovative, buildable concepts.
  • Reviewing and assuring third-party designs.
  • Conducting site visits, inspections, and surveys, while advising on safety matters.
  • Fulfilling Job Leader responsibilities, including client liaison, design delivery, and workload planning.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if:

  • You possess a Level 6/7 qualification and CEng/IEng professional qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • You have strong experience leading civil and structural infrastructure design.
  • You hold a full driving license.
  • You’re confident in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing design inputs and outputs.
  • You’re passionate about working for a collaborative, trusted, and delivery-focused organization.
  • You have experience with rail or water sector standards.
  • You’re knowledgeable about WIMES or Minimum Asset Standards.
  • You have exposure to water or wastewater treatment environments.
  • You have previous M&E design experience (e.g., simple hydraulics, pump selection, etc.).
