About Us

Kier has been selected by Southern Water Services for their ambitious £3.1bn Strategic Development Partnership Framework for Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8). This is an exciting opportunity with an initial seven-year term, plus the potential for a five-year extension. You'll be involved in projects that truly make a difference, enhancing water supply and wastewater treatment while improving safety, quality, recycling, and resilience for 2.5 million households across a vast network of 53,470 km of pipelines.

Your Role

As a Senior Design Manager, you will be at the forefront of engineering design delivery, supporting a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater projects. This is your chance to create sustainable solutions that benefit both communities and the environment, collaborating with talented teams who share your passion for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Lead and manage engineering design delivery for assigned projects, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Provide line management support to Design Managers, fostering professional development and mentoring.
• Collaborate with engineering discipline leads and project teams to develop technically excellent and economically sound solutions.
• Manage design quality procedures and engineering assurance processes from project definition to handover.
• Drive innovation and sustainable design practices that contribute to carbon reduction and environmental enhancement.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if:

• You hold Chartered Engineer status with a degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
• You have proven experience in engineering design, construction, and management within the water sector.
• You’re passionate about leading multi-disciplinary teams and fostering an inclusive environment.
• You possess excellent communication skills and can simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
• You have a full valid driving license and are comfortable with occasional travel.
