Your Role

As a Design Engineer at Kier, you will play a crucial role in delivering civil and structural engineering services across a variety of infrastructure projects. You’ll collaborate with our Structures & Geotechnical team to develop safe, buildable Permanent Works solutions, support tenders, and engage with clients and multidisciplinary teams. Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Deliver Permanent Works design across Kier Design's infrastructure portfolio.
• Create safe, buildable, cost-effective solutions from concept to delivery.
• Provide technical input to bids, ensuring innovative concepts.
• Develop alternative designs and value engineering solutions to enhance competitiveness.
• Review and assure third-party designs for compliance with client and Kier requirements.
• Identify and manage technical risks throughout the design and construction phases.
• Conduct site visits, inspections, and surveys, offering advice on SHE matters.
• Fulfill Job Leader responsibilities, including client liaison and design delivery.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if you:

• Hold a Level 6/7 qualification and are working towards professional qualification with a relevant industry body (e.g., ICE, IStructE).
• Have proven experience in delivering civil and structural infrastructure design.
• Possess a full UK driving license.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with rail or water sector standards.
• Knowledge of WIMES or Minimum Asset Standards.
• Exposure to water or wastewater treatment environments.
• Previous M&E design experience (e.g., simple hydraulics, pump selection).
