Your Role
As a Design Engineer at Kier, you will play a crucial role in delivering civil and structural engineering services across a variety of infrastructure projects. You’ll collaborate with our Structures & Geotechnical team to develop safe, buildable Permanent Works solutions, support tenders, and engage with clients and multidisciplinary teams. Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Deliver Permanent Works design across Kier Design's infrastructure portfolio.
- Create safe, buildable, cost-effective solutions from concept to delivery.
- Provide technical input to bids, ensuring innovative concepts.
- Develop alternative designs and value engineering solutions to enhance competitiveness.
- Review and assure third-party designs for compliance with client and Kier requirements.
- Identify and manage technical risks throughout the design and construction phases.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and surveys, offering advice on SHE matters.
- Fulfill Job Leader responsibilities, including client liaison and design delivery.
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for you if you:
- Hold a Level 6/7 qualification and are working towards professional qualification with a relevant industry body (e.g., ICE, IStructE).
- Have proven experience in delivering civil and structural infrastructure design.
- Possess a full UK driving license.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with rail or water sector standards.
- Knowledge of WIMES or Minimum Asset Standards.
- Exposure to water or wastewater treatment environments.
- Previous M&E design experience (e.g., simple hydraulics, pump selection).
