Are you ready to make a difference in your community? We’re on the lookout for a passionate Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team at Cambridgeshire County Council in Huntingdon. This is your chance to be part of a dedicated Facilities Management team, ensuring our buildings are safe, compliant, and fully operational.
Location
Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire (with occasional travel to various sites required)
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm (with a one-hour lunch break). Please note that out-of-hours cover will be required.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards across our building portfolio. Your daily tasks will include:
- Completing planned preventative maintenance tasks, including Legionella compliance, HVAC systems, pumps, compressors, and AHUs.
- Responding to reactive maintenance requests, diagnosing faults, and repairing mechanical systems and plumbing.
- Accurately recording all maintenance activities on our CAFM system using mobile technology.
- Liaising with the helpdesk and contract management team, and inducting subcontractors to ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.
- Participating in an out-of-hours on-call rota and conducting weekly site inspections.
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for you if:
- You hold a full driving license and relevant qualifications such as City and Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3.
- You have experience with renewables, heat pumps, air conditioning, air handling units, and general mechanical maintenance in commercial properties.
- You’re confident using mobile technology to update work systems and communicate effectively with teams and clients.
- You’re comfortable with the physical aspects of the role and are committed to maintaining the highest health and safety standards.
