Are you ready to make a difference in Birmingham? We’re on the lookout for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our dynamic team based at Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham. This is your chance to play a vital role in maintaining the city’s highways network!

Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham, B7 5HR

Working Hours

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 15:30

Your Role

As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you will be an essential part of our arboriculture team, dedicated to maintaining safe highways and greenspaces. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Working collaboratively to carry out stump grinding, root pruning, tree pit creation, and re-staking.
  • Setting up safe working sites on the highway and engaging with the public.
  • Adhering to safe systems of work, risk assessments, and safety procedures at all times.
  • Completing safety-critical emergency works when required.
  • Maintaining accurate paperwork, including LOLER check sheets and HAVS forms.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if you have:

  • City & Guilds NPTC/Lantra chainsaw and stump grinding qualifications.
  • NRSWA or equivalent operative qualification.
  • Experience with CAT & Genny and practical knowledge of their use.
  • NPORS (or equivalent) lorry loader with clamshell and timber grab attachments.
  • A full driving licence.
