About the Role

As a Design Engineer within Kier Design, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering civil and structural engineering services across a variety of infrastructure projects. You’ll work closely with our Structures & Geotechnical team to develop safe, buildable Permanent Works solutions, support tenders, and collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams. Your Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be instrumental in delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Delivering Permanent Works design across Kier Design’s infrastructure portfolio.
• Designing safe, buildable, and cost-effective solutions from concept to delivery.
• Providing technical input to bids, ensuring innovative concepts are buildable.
• Developing alternative designs and value engineering solutions to enhance competitiveness.
• Reviewing and assuring third-party designs for compliance with client and Kier requirements.
• Identifying and managing technical risks throughout design and construction stages.
• Conducting site visits, inspections, and surveys while advising on SHE matters.
• Fulfilling Job Leader responsibilities, including client liaison and compliance with Kier Quality Management Systems.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if:

• You hold a Level 6/7 qualification and are working towards professional qualification with a relevant industry body (e.g., ICE, IStructE).
• You have proven experience in delivering civil and structural infrastructure design.
• You possess a full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

• Experience with rail or water sector standards.
• Knowledge of WIMES or Minimum Asset Standards.
• Exposure to water or wastewater treatment environments.
• Previous M&E design experience (e.g., simple hydraulics, pump selection).
