Location: Bristol

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Salary: Up to £38,955.18 per annum (includes sleep-in shifts)

Specific Hours: 38 hours per week

Responsible for: Team Leaders, Residential Support Workers

Your Role & Responsibilities

As our Deputy Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Home Manager and leading our dedicated team. Your primary goal will be to ensure that our home provides safe, high-quality care for young people. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring the safety and well-being of young people.
  • Lead, supervise, and motivate the staff team, stepping in for the Manager when needed.
  • Create a supportive and nurturing environment focused on the needs and views of young people.
  • Collaborate with professionals and families to support care plans and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Maintain compliance with policies, legislation, and safety standards.
  • Support staff development and training, and participate in the on-call rota.
  • Manage petty cash and assist with budget responsibilities.
  • Coordinate annual leave to ensure smooth operations.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is not only qualified but also passionate about working with young people. Here’s what you need to bring to the table:

  • A good standard of education with strong writing, IT, and organizational skills.
  • Holding (or working towards) a Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People, with a willingness to start the Level 5 Diploma within 6 months if not already qualified.
  • 2+ years of experience working directly with young people, including those with challenging behavior.
  • A solid understanding of current childcare legislation, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Experience working with external agencies and families, and attending professional meetings.
  • A proven ability to lead, motivate, and support a team, acting as a positive role model.
  • Empathy, a child-centered approach, and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes.
  • A full, clean UK manual driving license.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
