Join Our Team as a Tutor at The Olive Frances School!
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? At Polaris Education, we are looking for a dedicated Tutor to join our vibrant community at The Olive Frances School in Banbury, Oxfordshire. This is a full-time, term-time only position with a competitive salary of £24,000 FTE.
About Our School
Located in the heart of Banbury, our school provides a safe and supportive environment for up to 84 pupils aged 5 to 18 with complex needs. We believe in fostering a positive atmosphere where every child feels valued, respected, and empowered. Our holistic approach ensures that academic progress goes hand-in-hand with emotional well-being and personal growth.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Tutor, you will play a crucial role in supporting our students' personal and academic development. Your responsibilities will include:
- Enhancing wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behavior management.
- Collaborating with the education team to remove barriers to learning.
- Promoting positive learning behaviors among students.
- Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
- Delivering enrichment activities during golden time.
- Assisting in lessons to support academic understanding and emotional needs.
- Responding to immediate concerns and clarifying situations.
- Creating and collating information related to lessons and interventions.
- Preparing relevant information for meetings about pupils.
- Advocating for the ethos of the school.
- Leading on reading and phonics, reviewing progress made by students.
- Developing the role of Pupil Voice and liaising with SLT about the Pupil Council.
- Building relationships with parents/carers and actively participating in transitions and consultations.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as HLTA.
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
- Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in areas like Food Hygiene, Forest School, or School Yoga.
- Experience in behavior management techniques.
- A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
