Location & Hours
Location: Maple Lodge, Rickmansworth - Enjoy the flexibility of remote working, with occasional travel to our office in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire.
Hours: 45 hours per week - We value work-life balance and offer flexibility on hours. Just let us know what works for you!

Your Role
As a Senior Design Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading design solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure. This is your chance to ensure technical compliance while driving cost efficiency and sustainability. You’ll collaborate closely with project teams and design partners to deliver innovative, outcome-focused solutions that meet regulatory commitments and client objectives. The Maple Lodge project is set to be one of the largest on our framework, with an ECI phase of approximately £9m and a final cost exceeding £200m!
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead and support your design team to deliver high-quality, compliant designs on time and within budget.
- Manage design partners and consultants, fostering collaborative working and ensuring right-first-time submissions.
- Oversee technical design reviews and quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with client standards.
- Identify value engineering opportunities and drive efficiencies while maintaining project outcomes.
- Build trusted relationships with clients, clearly communicating technical solutions and managing project approvals.
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for you if:
- You hold a degree in engineering (preferably chartered) and have proven experience as a Design Manager or Principal Engineer in the water industry.
- You possess strong people and project management skills, with experience leading design teams and managing consultants.
- You understand multidisciplinary design coordination and have knowledge of water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
- You can communicate technical solutions clearly to varied audiences and build collaborative relationships.
- You hold a full UK driving licence.
