At Polaris Education, we are looking for a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive community at Barraclough Hall School in Huddersfield. About the Role

This is a 12-month fixed-term, part-time position for two days a week (Wednesday and Friday), during term time only. You will be rewarded with a competitive salary ranging from £21,257.48 to £23,232.69 (pro rata: £12,754.48 - £13,938.62).

Your Responsibilities

  • Support one pupil or a small group (maximum six) in their learning journey.
  • Assist the classroom teacher during lessons to enhance the educational experience.
  • Report on pupil progress and concerns, collaborating with school staff.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities and trips.
  • Help with lesson planning and preparation.
  • Set work and mark assignments where appropriate.
  • Build positive relationships to support learning outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong basic education (minimum GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths) and IT skills.
  • Experience in a similar role (teaching assistant experience is desirable).
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
  • Ability to take responsibility for areas such as food hygiene, forest school, or activities.
  • Experience in behaviour management.
  • Commitment to professional development.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
