At Ormston School in Headingley, Leeds, we are looking for a passionate and dedicated One-to-One Teaching Assistant to join our supportive community. This is your chance to develop your career while helping students achieve their best!

About the Role

This is a 12-month Fixed Term, Full-Time position covering maternity leave, with a salary range of £21,257.48 - £23,232.69. You will play a crucial role in mentoring and supporting one pupil or a small group of no more than six pupils, ensuring they thrive in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of pupils.
  • Assist the classroom teacher during lessons.
  • Report on pupils' progress and concerns, collaborating with staff to meet their needs.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, including extracurricular events and school trips.
  • Help with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to drive engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Adapt resources to meet the needs of young people.

What We’re Looking For

  • A strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
  • Confidence to take on additional responsibilities (e.g., Food Hygiene, Forest School, School Yoga).
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques.
  • A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
