Support Worker - Supported Accommodation

Location: Gloucester
Salary: 28,000 - 29,700 (exclusive of sleeps, which are paid at 80.19 per sleep)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Schedule: Shift work, including every other weekend.

The Role

As a Support Worker - Supported Accommodation, you will support the Registered Service Manager and wider team to deliver outstanding care and positive outcomes for children and young people.


Key responsibilities:

  • Support young people to develop independent living skills, including budgeting, cooking, self-care, and maintaining their accommodation
  • Build positive, professional relationships based on trust, respect, and encouragement
  • Act as a key worker for a small number of young people, supporting them to achieve their individual goals and aspirations
  • Support young people to access education, employment, training, healthcare, and community resources
  • Promote emotional wellbeing and resilience through a person-centred approach
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and support plans using IT systems
  • Work collaboratively with families, social workers, education providers, and other professionals
  • Support young people to understand their rights, responsibilities, and tenancy expectations
  • Respond effectively and calmly to challenging or crisis situations
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment



Requirements

Essential:

  • Willingness to work flexible shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins, and where required, waking night shifts
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one)
  • Ability to work independently and use your own initiative
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good administrative, recording, and reporting skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and respond appropriately under pressure
  • Commitment to delivering high quality support and positive outcomes for young people
  • Empathy with the aims and values of Carbrey Housing



Desirable:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) - training can be provided
  • Experience working with children and young people pr vulnerable individuals

  • A strong team player with good communication skills
  • Committed to improving outcomes for children and young people
