At Polaris Education, we are looking for a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive community at our new school in Huddersfield. This is your chance to develop your career while helping students thrive!

About the Role

This is a 12-month fixed-term, part-time position, available for 2 days a week (Wednesday and Friday). You will play a crucial role in supporting our pupils aged 7 to 18 in a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support one pupil or a small group (maximum six) in their learning journey.
  • Assist the classroom teacher during lessons to enhance the learning experience.
  • Report on progress and concerns, collaborating with school staff.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities and trips.
  • Help with lesson planning and preparation.
  • Set work and mark assignments where appropriate.
  • Build positive relationships to support learning outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong basic education (minimum GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths) and good IT skills.
  • Experience in a similar role (teaching assistant experience is desirable).
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
  • Ability to take responsibility for areas such as food hygiene, forest school, or activities.
  • Experience in behaviour management.
  • Commitment to professional development.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
