Join us as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in Analytical Chemistry for a 24-month placement at our Newcastle Innovation Centre.

What to Expect:
During your 24-month placement, you will:
- Work on real projects for some of our most beloved brands, bridging the gap between academic research and real-world applications.
- Be at the forefront of analytical method development, tackling complex consumer challenges with innovative solutions.
- Utilize advanced instrumentation to generate critical data and uncover new insights that will shape the future of Fabric and Home Care solutions.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute advanced laboratory experiments focused on volatile and semi-volatile analysis using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
- Develop, validate, and implement novel analytical methods, utilizing advanced sample introduction techniques like Headspace Solid-Phase Microextraction (HS-SPME) and Thermal Desorption (TD).
- Analyze and interpret complex data to provide actionable insights for technology development.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of senior scientists, engineers, and product developers to drive R&D initiatives.
- Take ownership of critical analytical instrumentation, ensuring optimal performance through routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Communicate findings effectively through technical reports and presentations to diverse stakeholders.

What We Look For:
- You should be in the final year of a PhD program or have recently completed a PhD (within the last 1-2 years) in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) with a preference for 3+ years of hands-on experience.
- Experience with advanced sample introduction techniques for GC-MS, specifically HS-SPME and/or Thermal Desorption.
- A strong foundation in analytical chemistry principles and a passion for hands-on laboratory work.
- Academic excellence with a proven track record of independent problem-solving and method development.
- Demonstrated curiosity, creativity, innovation, initiative, leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Evidence of achievements in academic and/or non-academic activities, including internships, is a plus.
