At Debenhams Group, we thrive on change, innovation, and pace. Every challenge is an opportunity, and every day is a chance to push boundaries. If you’re someone who embraces the unknown, thrives in a fast-moving, high-growth environment, and is ready to shape the future of retail, you’ll love it here. We want visionaries, disruptors, and doers, people who bring fresh thinking, relentless energy, who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo, and the drive to make an impact.
Your Team
You'll join our Business Partnering Team, supporting our Head Office Functions (Finance, Tech, Facilities, Legal etc) and work closely with the HR Business Partner. Together, we're committed to creating an exceptional colleague experience where people feel valued, supported, empowered, and inspired to do their best work.
We're a collaborative, high-performing team that celebrates success, supports one another through challenges, and thrives on delivering meaningful impact across the business.
The role
As our HR Coordinator, you'll be at the heart of our people operations, playing a key role in delivering an outstanding colleague experience from day one. This is a true generalist HR role where no two days are the same.
You'll work across a diverse range of functions, including Finance, Technology, Data & Insights, Legal, Customer Service, and Facilities, partnering with colleagues at every level of the business. From onboarding new talent and supporting employee relations to delivering people initiatives and enhancing engagement, you'll be a trusted point of contact helping our teams succeed.
What you'll be doing
As a HR Coordinator, you'll:
- Deliver an exceptional onboarding experience by supporting new starters from offer acceptance through to induction and beyond.
- Partner with our Talent Acquisition team to coordinate contracts, pre-employment checks, onboarding documentation, and induction plans.
- Be a friendly and knowledgeable first point of contact for our people, answering a wide range of people-related queries.
- Manage our HR inbox, ensuring colleagues receive timely, professional, and supportive responses.
- Process employee lifecycle changes accurately, including contractual amendments and payroll-related updates.
- Collaborate closely with our Payroll team to ensure a seamless colleague experience.
- Support our line managers and colleagues through important life events, including maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave.
- Assist with employee relations processes, including probation reviews, absence management, performance management, investigations, and disciplinary matters.
- Draft HR documentation and provide administrative support for employee relations activities.
- Conduct exit interviews and identify valuable insights that help shape our colleague experience.
- Support our Work Experience programmes, helping to inspire the next generation of talent.
- Contribute to exciting people projects, engagement initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate colleague records while ensuring compliance with GDPR and data protection requirements.
- Help celebrate colleague achievements through our long-service recognition programmes.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive, and isn’t afraid to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in!
You'll bring:
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships quickly.
- A positive, can-do attitude and a genuine desire to support others.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- A curious mindset to learn, roll the sleeves up, and get stuck into every opportunity.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- The ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and Google, particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
- The ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced business.
- We're interested in potential as much as experience and we’re eager to hear from individuals eager to develop a HR career. We do ask that you have either a CIPD, HR focused degree, apprenticeship in HR, or can show us on the job experience!
Why Join Us?
We are making bold moves, delivering real results, and driving forward with unstoppable momentum. If that excites you, then you belong at Debenhams Group.
