Working Hours
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 15:30

Your Role
As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you’ll be part of a supportive arboriculture team, working safely to:
- Remove tree stumps and grind them following HSG47 guidelines.
- Carry out root pruning to prevent root incursion.
- Support other teams across the contract when needed.
Key Responsibilities
In this hands-on role, your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Working as part of a team to carry out stump grinding, root pruning, tree pit creation, and re-staking.
- Setting up safe working sites on the highway and engaging with the public.
- Following safe systems of work, risk assessments, and safety procedures at all times.
- Completing safety-critical emergency works when required.
- Maintaining accurate paperwork, including LOLER check sheets and HAVS forms.
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for you if:
- You hold City & Guilds NPTC/Lantra chainsaw and stump grinding qualifications.
- You have an NRSWA or equivalent operative qualification.
- You’re qualified in CAT & Genny and have practical experience using them.
- You hold NPORS (or equivalent) lorry loader with clamshell and timber grab attachments.
- You possess a full driving licence.
