A Different Kind of RAC Role: Welcome to SMR

The RAC is renowned for roadside rescue, but our SMR division is a fast-growing segment focused on delivering planned, structured repairs and servicing directly to our members—right from their driveway or workplace car park. Forget emergency callouts and unpredictable shifts; here, you’ll work through a scheduled list of jobs with all the time, tools, and support you need to excel.

Where You’ll Work

You’ll be part of the Streatham cluster, covering areas like:

  • Streatham
  • Brixton
  • Tulse Hill
  • West Norwood
  • Dulwich
  • Sydenham

Enjoy the freedom of being out on the road, tackling pre-booked appointments without the stress of reactive callouts.

  • Routine servicing
  • Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
  • In-depth repairs typically done in a workshop
  • Providing member advice and recommendations
  • Conducting vehicle safety checks aligned with RAC standards

With SMR, you’ll have everything you need from day one: a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set, and advanced diagnostics.

Why SMR is Different (and Why Techs Love It)

  • Planned appointments instead of emergency responses
  • Consistent workflow without unpredictable demands
  • In-depth repairs, not just temporary fixes
  • Time to do the job right, with built-in support and parts ordering
  • Clear schedules using RAC’s mobile service platform

This role is perfect for technicians seeking variety and independence without the reactive nature of traditional patrol work.

What You’ll Need

  • A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

No CV is required to apply, and it takes just 5 minutes—starting your journey with us has never been easier!
