Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Occupational Therapy Degree / Diploma in Occupational Therapy (or due to graduate soon)
  • Health Professionals Council (HCPC) Registration - or registration applied for


Desirable criteria
  • Accredited wheelchair prescriber
  • Completion of recognised student educator course from UK learning institution
  • Driver - or has demonstrable ability to transport self independently in the community


Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience (through undergraduate placements or post-graduate employment) of applying occupational therapy knowledge and skills in clinical settings
  • Knowledge of the key concepts of Occupational Therapy models of practice
  • Ability to demonstrate/discuss Occupational Therapy process in UK-based clinical settings
  • Ability to analyse, select and apply appropriate assessment and treatments using a range of modalities, using examples of undergraduate placement or employment experience


Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • UK-based occupational therapy undergraduate placement or employment experience
  • Ability to use reflective practice for personal development
  • Contributed to the development of students and staff


Communication and Interpersonal Skills

Essential criteria
  • Shows desire and capability to develop in line with competencies associated with the role
  • Good communication skills - verbal/written
  • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Demonstrates understanding of confidentiality


Desirable criteria
  • Able to facilitate learning of others.
