What To Expect

During your 24-month post-doctoral placement, you will:

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute advanced laboratory experiments focused on volatile and semi-volatile analysis using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
  • Develop, validate, and implement novel analytical methods, particularly using advanced sample introduction techniques like Headspace Solid-Phase Microextraction (HS-SPME) and Thermal Desorption (TD).
  • Analyze and interpret complex analytical data to provide actionable insights for technology development.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of senior scientists, engineers, and product developers to drive R&D initiatives.
  • Take ownership of critical analytical instrumentation, ensuring routine maintenance and performance optimization.
  • Communicate findings effectively through technical reports, data summaries, and presentations.

What We Look For

To be a part of our team, you should meet the following qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in the final year of a PhD program or recently completed a PhD (within the last 1-2 years) in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), with a preference for 3+ years of hands-on experience.
  • Direct experience with advanced sample introduction techniques for GC-MS, specifically HS-SPME and/or TD.
  • A strong foundation in analytical chemistry principles and a passion for hands-on laboratory work.
  • Proven academic excellence and a track record of independent problem-solving and method development.
  • Demonstrated technical curiosity, creativity, initiative, leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Evidence of achievements in academic and/or non-academic activities, internships, or short work experiences is a plus.
