Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? At Polaris Children's Services, we believe in creating a nurturing environment where every child feels valued and empowered. Located in Andover, Hampshire, our school supports pupils aged 5 to 16 with complex needs, and we are looking for a dedicated Tutor to join our team!

About Us

Your Role

As a Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting our pupils' personal and academic development. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Enhancing wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management.
  • Collaborating with the Education Team to remove barriers to learning.
  • Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
  • Delivering engaging enrichment activities during 'Golden Time'.
  • Providing in-class support for academic, pastoral, emotional, or behavioural needs.
  • Addressing immediate concerns and resolving situations appropriately.
  • Creating and compiling lesson and intervention information.
  • Acting as an advocate for the ethos of Lyttelton House School.
  • Leading on Reading and Phonics, reviewing progress made by pupils.
  • Developing the role of Pupil Voice and liaising with the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Building strong relationships with parents/carers and supporting transitions.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Previous experience in a similar role (e.g., HLTA) and working with pupils with SEMH.
  • Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in specific areas (e.g., Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, School Yoga).
  • Experience in behaviour management techniques.
  • A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.

What We Offer

At Polaris, we value the emotional health and wellbeing of our staff. Here’s what you can expect:

  • A supportive workplace that prioritizes your wellbeing.
  • A commitment to your professional development through various opportunities.
  • The chance to make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable children.
  • A friendly and inclusive team dedicated to improving outcomes.

Join us in our mission to provide high-quality teaching in a safe educational environment. The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, which will be covered by Polaris Community.
