Our mission is to nurture the whole person, helping them achieve transitional milestones in a trauma-informed environment.

About the Role

We are excited to invite applications for a One to One Teaching Assistant position. This full-time role runs from Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30, during term time only. While primarily based at one site, you may also support students at local PE venues and, eventually, in college settings.

Your Responsibilities

As a vital member of our team, you will:

  • Collaborate with the Headteacher and class teachers to align with our therapeutic approach.
  • Support the pupil in learning effectively, both individually and in group settings by:
    • Clarifying and explaining instructions.
    • Ensuring the pupil can use provided equipment and materials.
    • Motivating and encouraging the pupil with tailored attention and support.
    • Assisting in areas like speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, and handwriting.
    • Using praise and constructive feedback to help the pupil focus and stay engaged.
  • Liaise with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals regarding Individual Personal Education Plans (PEPs).
  • Provide additional nurture as requested by the class teacher or SENCO.
  • Implement agreed behavior management strategies consistently.
  • Establish supportive relationships with the pupil.
  • Promote acceptance and inclusion of pupils with SEN, encouraging positive interactions.
  • Monitor and adapt learning activities to meet intended outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • A minimum qualification of GCSE A-C or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • A Level 3 or above Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by students with Emotional, Behavioural, or Social needs.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit team.
  • Desirable: Experience in a specialist environment.

Working Conditions

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, term time only, with a salary range of £20,422 - £21,111.51. You will be working in a supportive and dynamic environment in Horsham, West Sussex.
