Join Our Team as a Tutor at The Olive Frances School!
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? At Polaris Education, we are looking for a dedicated Tutor to join our vibrant community at The Olive Frances School in Banbury, Oxfordshire. This is a full-time, term-time only position with a competitive salary of £24,000 FTE.
About Our School
Located in the heart of Banbury, our school provides a safe and supportive environment for up to 84 pupils aged 5 to 18 with complex needs. We believe in fostering a positive atmosphere where every child feels valued, respected, and empowered. Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Tutor, you will play a crucial role in supporting our students' development. Your responsibilities will include:
- Enhancing wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management.
- Collaborating with the education team to remove barriers to learning.
- Promoting positive learning behaviours among students.
- Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
- Delivering engaging enrichment activities.
- Providing academic and pastoral support in lessons.
- Addressing immediate concerns and clarifying situations.
- Collecting and organizing information related to lessons and interventions.
- Preparing relevant information for pupil meetings.
- Advocating for the school’s ethos.
- Leading on reading and phonics, tracking student progress.
- Developing the Pupil Voice and liaising with SLT about the Pupil Council.
- Building relationships with parents/carers and supporting transitions.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as HLTA.
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
- Confidence to take on additional responsibilities (e.g., Food Hygiene, Forest School, School Yoga).
- Skills in behaviour management and techniques.
- A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
