Our mission is to nurture the whole person, helping them achieve their transitional milestones in a trauma-informed environment.
About the Role
We are excited to invite applications for a One to One Teaching Assistant position. This full-time role runs from Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30, during term time only. While primarily based at our main site, you may also support students at local PE venues and college settings.
Your Responsibilities
As a vital member of our team, you will:
- Collaborate with the Headteacher and class teachers to align with our therapeutic approach.
- Support pupils in both group and individual settings by:
- Clarifying and explaining instructions.
- Ensuring effective use of equipment and materials.
- Motivating and encouraging students through personalized attention and support.
- Assisting in areas such as speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, and handwriting.
- Using praise and constructive feedback to keep students focused and engaged.
- Liaise with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals regarding Individual Personal Education Plans (PEPs).
- Provide additional nurture as requested by the class teacher or SENCO.
- Implement agreed behavior management strategies consistently.
- Build supportive relationships with the pupils.
- Promote acceptance and inclusion of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Monitor and adapt learning activities to meet intended outcomes.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A minimum qualification of GCSE A-C or equivalent in Maths and English.
- A Level 3 or above Teaching Assistant qualification.
- An understanding of the challenges faced by students with Emotional, Behavioural, or Social needs.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit team.
- Experience in a specialist environment is desirable but not essential.
Working Conditions
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, term time only, based in Horsham, West Sussex. You will work from 08:30 to 16:30, providing a structured and supportive environment for our students.
