As we continue to transform our People & Culture services, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Employee Relations Team Manager to join our team.
About the Role
As an Employee Relations Team Manager, you will:
• Lead and manage a team of Employee Relations professionals, providing visible and effective professional leadership to deliver a high-quality Employee Relations service
• Ensure the team maintains up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation, policies, and terms and conditions to support consistent, accurate and credible advice
• Oversee complex case management, supporting fair, timely and values-based resolution of Employee Relations issues
• Deliver a responsive, customer-focused advisory service
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with managers, senior leaders, trade union representatives and external stakeholders
• Use workforce data and management information to inform service delivery, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement
• Support service redesign, improving processes and embedding efficient ways of working
• Ensure appropriate standards, key performance indicators and targets are in place and delivered
• Contribute as a member of the People & Culture Leadership Team, supporting the wider strategic and operational priorities of the Directorate
About You
You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong leadership capability, sound judgement and the ability to work collaboratively. You will be a credible, compassionate and forward-thinking People & Culture professional who brings:
• Degree-level education (or equivalent experience) and CIPD membership, with a commitment to continuous professional development
• A strong generalist background including policy development, case management and delivery of a centralised Employee Relations advisory service within the NHS or a similarly complex, multi-union environment
• Proven ability to balance consistent application of policy and employment law with a responsive, customer-focused approach
• Experience of building effective relationships and influencing at all levels, including senior leaders and external stakeholders
• Strong understanding of UK employment legislation, Employee Relations best practice and current workforce issues
