About the Role

As an HR Advisor, you’ll work closely with the HR Business Partner team, Head of Employee Relations and the HR Director as well as partner closely with the organisation, including the relevant business leaders supporting them in driving the Telegraph Media Group’s strategic goals. You’ll also work closely with the wider HR team including Talent & Performance, Talent Acquisition, Reward & Benefits and Engagement and Operations.

You’ll form strong, trusting relationships with stakeholders, understanding their goals, needs and issues, with a view to providing people-focussed and commercially-grounded advice. The role is varied and you’ll have the opportunity to cast your eye on a range of different areas and support the Senior HR Business Partner in: managing organisational design and change, resource planning, talent development, reward, recognition, employee relations, well being, engagement and compliance. We have specialist teams working in many of these areas, who you’ll collaborate and share ideas with. You’ll also play a part in supporting the Business Partnering team including other HR Advisors.

This is a fantastic fixed term opportunity where you will be serving as the first point of contact for general HR queries from Editorial, acting to triage and potentially escalate the day-to-day issues that arise.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure that the relationship between the organisation and its staff is managed appropriately within a clear and transparent framework underpinned by organisation practices and policies and ultimately by relevant employment law.

Proactively manage formal and informal employee relations (ER) issues, whether individual disciplinary, grievance and redundancy cases or the larger scale ER aspects of a change management programme with the support of the Senior HR Business Partners .

Ensure that all Company policies are kept current and in line with market trends and changes.

Actively support the annual performance management cycle and key processes that reinforce the importance of continuous and honest feedback; coaching employees to take ownership for personal development.

Support Senior HR Business Partners and HRD with the annual pay review process; including the facilitation of performance benchmarking meetings.

Provide guidance in line with the reward strategy to ensure fairness and consistency with any reward decisions.

Work alongside the Business Partner team and HRD and in partnership with line managers to ensure talent pipelines are in place through succession planning and talent mapping, ensuring career development opportunities are in place for high performing and high potential employees. Key stakeholders in this process will also be the Head of Talent Acquisition and Head of Talent and Performance.

Skills Required

  • Demonstrable experience in an HR capacity with a good understanding of fundamental disciplines of Talent Management, Reward and Employee Relations.
  • Broad knowledge of employment regulatory framework.
  • A level of commercial awareness and business understanding.
  • Ability to work in ambiguous situations and provide clear/best fit solutions.
  • Good negotiating and influencing skills, adept at handling difficult situations or challenging individuals to gain positive and constructive outcomes.
  • Able to work in a busy, fast paced team-oriented environment.
  • Highly organised and efficient with excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across multiple levels. with strong written and verbal communication
  • Ideally 5+ years experience within a HR generalist role.
  • Data and analytics experience is desirable.
  • Ideally CIPD professional level qualifications.
