Welcome to The Olive Frances School, nestled in the heart of Banbury, Oxfordshire! Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Tutor, you will play a vital role in enhancing the educational experience of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the improvement of wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management.
  • Collaborating with the education team to help young people overcome barriers to learning.
  • Promoting positive learning behaviours among students.
  • Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
  • Delivering engaging enrichment activities.
  • Assisting in lessons to address academic, pastoral, emotional, or behavioural needs.
  • Responding to immediate concerns and clarifying situations.
  • Creating and compiling information related to lessons and interventions.
  • Preparing relevant information for meetings about pupils.
  • Advocating for the ethos of the school.
  • Leading on reading and phonics, reviewing student progress.
  • Developing the Pupil Voice and liaising with SLT about the Pupil Council.
  • Building relationships with parents/carers and actively participating in transitions and consultations.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, along with sound IT skills.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, such as HLTA.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
  • Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in areas like Food Hygiene, Forest School, lunchtimes, or School Yoga.
  • Proficiency in behaviour management techniques.
  • A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
