Role: Supervising Social Worker

Basic Salary: Up to £38,616.92 per annum (dependent on experience)

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Office Location: Chorley (Homebased, supporting foster parents in Manchester and surrounding areas)

Your Role

As a Supervising Social Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting foster parents and ensuring the best outcomes for children in care. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Guiding foster parents to achieve outstanding outcomes for children and young people.
  • Monitoring the suitability and competence of foster parents, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Providing regular supervision and support to foster parents in line with FCA’s Operational Standards.
  • Collaborating with the child’s network to identify needs and resources.
  • Ensuring compliance with all key documentation for children and foster parents.
  • Participating in meetings and providing reports for commissioning teams.
  • Encouraging the participation of children/young people in agency development and community resources.
  • Being part of an out-of-hours support service on a rota basis.
  • Conducting occasional initial home visits and Form F assessments.

What You Need

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • A Social Work qualification
  • Professional registration with Social Work England or equivalent
  • Strong report writing skills
  • A comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and child safeguarding procedures
  • The willingness to travel extensively, including occasional overnight stays
  • Confidence in transporting children and young people in challenging situations
  • A full driving licence
