What We Offer
- Competitive Salary: Start with a base salary of £45,378 (including London Weighting Allowance, if applicable) and the potential to earn up to £57,000 with on-target earnings.

Welcome to the SMR Division! While the RAC is renowned for roadside rescue, our SMR team focuses on delivering planned, structured repairs and servicing directly to our members—whether at their driveway or workplace car park. Forget about emergency callouts and unpredictable shifts; here, you’ll have a clear schedule and the tools you need to excel.
Your Work Environment
As part of the Streatham cluster, you’ll cover areas like Streatham, Brixton, Tulse Hill, West Norwood, Dulwich, and Sydenham. You’ll be out on the road, working through a well-organized list of pre-booked appointments, allowing you to focus on quality work without the stress of reactive callouts.
Your Daily Tasks
Your day begins with a clear digital schedule, and you’ll be responsible for:
- Routine servicing
- Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
- In-depth repairs typically done in a workshop
- Providing member advice and recommendations based on inspections
- Conducting vehicle safety checks aligned with RAC standards

What You’ll Need
- Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles
- A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
