A Different Kind of RAC Role
Welcome to SMR! While the RAC is renowned for roadside rescue, our SMR division focuses on delivering planned, structured repairs and servicing directly to our members—right from their driveway to their workplace car park. Forget emergency callouts and unpredictable shifts; here, you’ll work through a scheduled list of jobs with all the time, tools, and support you need to excel.
Your Daily Adventure
Your day begins with a clear digital schedule, where each job is pre-booked and waiting for you. You’ll be responsible for:
- Routine servicing
- Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
- In-depth repairs typically done in a workshop
- Providing member advice and recommendations based on your inspections
- Conducting vehicle safety checks aligned with RAC standards
With SMR, you’re not just reacting to breakdowns; you’re delivering planned work that you can prepare for. From day one, you’ll have everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set, and advanced diagnostics.
Why Choose SMR?
- Enjoy planned appointments instead of emergency responses.
- Experience consistent workflow without unpredictable demands.
- Engage in in-depth repairs rather than temporary roadside fixes.
- Have the time to do the job right, with built-in support and parts ordering.
- Utilize clear schedules through RAC’s mobile service platform.
This role is perfect for technicians who crave variety and independence without the reactive nature of traditional patrol work.
What You’ll Need
- Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles
- A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
No CV is required to apply, and it only takes 5 minutes to start your journey with us!
