Basic Salary: £24,000 FTE

About Our School

Welcome to Lyttelton House School, nestled in the heart of Andover, Hampshire! Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Tutor, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational journey of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the improvement of wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management.
  • Collaborating with the Education Team to enhance personal and academic development by removing barriers to learning.
  • Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
  • Delivering engaging enrichment activities during ‘Golden Time’.
  • Providing in-class support for academic, pastoral, emotional, or behavioural needs.
  • Responding to immediate concerns and resolving situations appropriately.
  • Creating and collating information related to lessons and interventions.
  • Assisting in the preparation of information for pupil meetings.
  • Acting as an advocate for the ethos of Lyttelton House School.
  • Leading on Reading and Phonics, reviewing progress made by students.
  • Developing the role of Pupil Voice and liaising with the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Building strong relationships with parents/carers and actively participating in transitions and consultations.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should possess:

  • A strong educational background, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics, along with sound IT skills.
  • Previous experience in a similar role (e.g., HLTA) and working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
  • The confidence to take on additional responsibilities in specific areas of the school (e.g., Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, School Yoga, etc.).
  • Experience in behaviour management and related techniques.
  • A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
