Are you ready to make a difference in Birmingham? We’re on the lookout for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our dedicated team based at Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham. This is your chance to play a vital role in maintaining the highways network while working in a supportive environment!

Location & Hours

Location: Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham, B7 5HR

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 15:30

Your Role

As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you will be an integral part of our arboriculture team, ensuring the safety and upkeep of Birmingham's highways and greenspaces. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Working collaboratively to carry out stump grinding, root pruning, tree pit creation, and re-staking.
  • Setting up safe working sites on the highway and engaging with the public.
  • Adhering to safe systems of work, risk assessments, and safety procedures at all times.
  • Completing safety-critical emergency works as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate paperwork, including LOLER check sheets and HAVS forms.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if:

  • You hold City & Guilds NPTC/Lantra chainsaw and stump grinding qualifications.
  • You have an NRSWA or equivalent operative qualification.
  • You are qualified in CAT & Genny and have practical experience using them.
  • You hold NPORS (or equivalent) lorry loader with clamshell and timber grab attachments.
  • You possess a full driving licence.
