Located in Huddersfield, our school provides a safe and supportive environment for pupils aged 7 to 18. Role Responsibilities

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support one pupil or a small group (maximum six) in their learning journey.
  • Assist the classroom teacher during lessons.
  • Report on progress and concerns, liaising with school staff.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities and trips.
  • Assist with lesson planning and preparation.
  • Set work and mark where appropriate.
  • Build positive relationships to support learning outcomes.

Requirements and Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • A strong basic education (minimum GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths) and IT skills.
  • Experience in a similar role (teaching assistant experience is desirable).
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
  • The ability to take responsibility for areas such as food hygiene, forest school, or activities.
  • Experience in behaviour management.
  • A commitment to professional development.
  • A willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Working Conditions

This is a 12-month fixed term, part-time position, available for 2 days a week (Wednesday and Friday), during term time only.

Salary

Your salary will range from £21,257.48 - £23,232.69 (pro rata: £12,754.48 - £13,938.62).

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, with the cost covered by Polaris Community.
