Your Role

As a Supervising Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting foster parents and their families to achieve outstanding outcomes for children and young people in foster care. Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing guidance and support to foster parents, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children.
• Monitoring the suitability and competence of foster parents, helping them understand their roles and responsibilities.
• Conducting regular supervision sessions in line with FCA's Operational Standards.
• Collaborating with a team to identify and address the needs of foster families.
• Ensuring compliance with all key documentation for children and foster parents.
• Participating in meetings and providing reports for commissioning teams.
• Encouraging the participation of children and young people in agency development and community resources.
• Being part of an out-of-hours support service on a rota basis.
• Occasionally conducting initial home visits and Form F assessments.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• A recognized Social Work qualification.
• Professional registration with Social Work England or an equivalent body.
• A proven ability to produce high-quality reports.
• A comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and child safeguarding procedures.
• The willingness to travel extensively, including occasional overnight stays.
• Confidence in transporting children and young people in challenging situations.
• A valid full driving licence.

Working Conditions & Benefits

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Chorley, with a home-based setup supporting foster parents in Manchester and surrounding areas. We offer:

• A competitive salary of up to £38,616.92 per annum, depending on experience.
• A company car or a £2,000 car allowance.
• 30 days of annual leave, increasing to 35 days with length of service, plus bank holidays.
