Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in Our SMR Division!

Welcome to a new era of mobile repair! At the RAC, we’re not just about roadside rescue; we’re about delivering exceptional service right where our members need it. As part of our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division, you’ll be at the forefront of a fast-growing team dedicated to providing structured repair and servicing directly to our members, whether at their driveway or workplace car park.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Mobile Vehicle Technician, you’ll enjoy:

  • Routine Servicing: Conduct regular maintenance to keep vehicles in top shape.
  • Advanced Diagnostics: Utilize cutting-edge mobile equipment to diagnose issues.
  • In-Depth Repairs: Perform repairs typically done in a workshop, right on-site.
  • Member Interaction: Provide advice and recommendations based on your inspections.
  • Vehicle Safety Checks: Ensure all work aligns with RAC standards.

Your day will start with a clear digital schedule, allowing you to focus on delivering quality work without the unpredictability of emergency callouts.

What You’ll Need

  • Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
  • A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Working Conditions

You’ll be part of the Wembley cluster, covering areas like Wembley, Harrow, Stanmore, Edgware, Kingsbury, and Greenford. Enjoy a structured workday with:

  • Core hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with 1 in 4 Saturdays.
  • No emergency callouts or unpredictable shift patterns.

Why Choose SMR?

Our technicians love working in SMR because:

  • Enjoy planned appointments instead of emergency responses.
  • Experience consistent workflow without unpredictable demands.
  • Focus on in-depth repairs rather than temporary fixes.
  • Have the time and support to do the job right.

Compensation and Benefits

We believe in rewarding our team for their hard work:

  • Competitive Salary: Start with a base salary of £45,378, with potential earnings up to £57,000 through bonuses and overtime.
  • Guaranteed Overtime: After your first month, opt to work extra days at £30 per hour, giving you the flexibility to boost your earnings.
  • Tools for Success: Receive a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, and advanced diagnostics tools from day one.
  • Time Off: Enjoy 23 days of holiday (rising to 25 with service) plus bank holidays.
  • Financial Security: Benefit from a pension scheme with up to 6.5% matched contributions and life assurance cover.
  • Wellbeing Support: Access a 24/7 confidential support service for you and your household.
  • Exclusive Discounts: Join our Orange Savings portal for deals across top retailers and more.

Who Thrives Here?

We’re looking for individuals who are not just skilled with tools but also excel in customer service. As a Mobile Mechanic, you’ll:

  • Enjoy independence and variety in your work.
  • Be hands-on and adaptable, solving problems on the spot.
  • Take pride in using your technical skills to genuinely help people.
