Your Work Environment
As part of the Barnet cluster, you’ll cover areas like Barnet, Finchley, and Hendon. You’ll be out on the road, working through a clearly planned schedule of appointments—no reactive callouts, just organized, pre-booked work that allows you to focus on quality.
What You’ll Do
Your day will kick off with a clear digital schedule, where each job is pre-booked and waiting for you. You’ll be responsible for:
- Routine servicing
- Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
- In-depth repairs typically done in a workshop
- Providing member advice and recommendations based on inspections
- Conducting vehicle safety checks aligned with RAC standards
With SMR, you’ll have the time and tools to do the job right, supported by a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, and a complete tool set.

What You’ll Need
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles
- A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
