Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Hours: 35 hours per week

Why Choose Polaris?

At Polaris Community, we are proud to be one of the UK’s largest providers of children's services and the very first independent fostering provider in the country. Our mission is to support vulnerable children and young people across the UK, from Glasgow to Plymouth and Belfast to London. With a community of 19 companies, we deliver fostering, residential care, specialist education, adoption, therapy, and leaving care services.

Join our small but mighty Information & Performance team, where you’ll play a crucial role in keeping our data flowing and making a real difference in the lives of children.

Your Role

As a Data Analyst, you will thrive in a complex and meaningful environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a central SQL Server environment with SSRS reporting.
  • Building and maintaining ETL pipelines using SSIS, Power Automate, PowerShell, and batch scripts.
  • Developing and maintaining a large library of stored procedures.
  • Delivering self-service reporting to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Handling ad-hoc data requests, analysis, and report development across various service areas.

In this broad and varied role, your work will genuinely matter, supporting vital services for vulnerable children across the country.

What We’re Looking For

We seek a curious problem-solver who dives deep into challenges rather than sticking to a syllabus. If you’re someone who:

  • Opens a query window to tackle new problems head-on.
  • Reads error messages thoroughly and digs until you understand the issue.
  • Can communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders to grasp their needs.
  • Has a genuine appetite for self-directed learning.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!

Technical Skills You’ll Need

  • Solid T-SQL skills, including reading, writing, and troubleshooting queries.
  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and report development.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Agent.
  • Comfort with MS Office, especially Excel and formula writing.
  • Exposure to PowerShell, CMD, VBA, or similar scripting is a bonus.
  • Experience with Power Automate is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint is a plus.
  • A SQL Server certification is helpful but not essential; we value your practical skills more than your credentials.

What We Offer

  • 30 days of annual leave, increasing to 35 days with length of service.
  • Bank holidays off.
  • Company pension plan.
  • Life assurance coverage.
  • Employee discount scheme.
  • Free on-site parking.

Working Conditions

We are an equal opportunities employer and have been awarded Disability Confident Employer status by Jobcentre Plus. The successful applicant will be subject to a DBS check, paid for by Polaris. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and we expect all staff to share this commitment.
