Basic Salary: £26,402

Contract: Full Time

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Location: Batley and Huddersfield

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining our school premises. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring clean, safe, and secure school buildings and grounds
  • Performing cleaning, maintenance tasks, and minor repairs
  • Supervising school cleaning staff
  • Promoting health and safety across the schools
  • Handling porterage duties, including moving furniture and equipment
  • Reporting maintenance issues to the Headteacher
  • Arranging larger repairs and obtaining quotes from contractors
  • Conducting daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, such as litter picking
  • Managing emergency cleaning duties, including gritting and spill clean-ups
  • Coordinating annual deep cleans of various school areas
  • Maintaining cleaning tools and products, ensuring good stock levels
  • Locking and unlocking the premises as required
  • Checking security at the end of the school day

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Previous caretaking experience in a school environment
  • Experience in building maintenance and security systems
  • A solid understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Basic DIY skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills for dealing with contractors and visitors
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • The ability to work in an environment with SEMH children
  • A full driving licence and access to your own car
  • A willingness to travel between both school sites
