Location & Hours
Location: Manchester/Newcastle or Birmingham – with agile working opportunities
Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired; just let us know when you speak to us.
Starting Salary: From £42,000 per annum
Sector: Mechanical, Electrical, and Technology – Highways

Your Role
As a Technology Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering innovative highways technology solutions throughout the entire project lifecycle. You will:
- Develop, coordinate, and assure designs for integrated digital and roadside systems.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create safe, efficient, and future-ready infrastructure across major UK projects.
Are You the Right Fit?
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Qualified: HNC/Degree (or working towards) in Electrical, Electronic, Communications, or Technology Engineering, or a related field.
- Experienced: In highways or infrastructure technology design.
- Knowledgeable: Familiar with National Highways standards (e.g., DMRB, TA401).
- Collaborative: A strong problem-solver who enjoys working with diverse teams.
Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Deliver technology design across ITS, communications, power, and digital infrastructure.
- Produce drawings, specifications, and technical documentation (2D/3D).
- Ensure compliance with DMRB, National Highways, and industry standards.
- Support design assurance, reviews, and compliance with governance frameworks.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks for right-first-time delivery.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Contribute to bids, innovation, digital engineering, and team development.
