Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in Our SMR Division!

Welcome to a new era of mobile repair! At the RAC, we’re not just about roadside rescue; we’re pioneering a fresh approach in our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division. Here, you’ll deliver planned, structured repairs and servicing directly to our members, whether at their driveway or workplace car park.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Mobile Vehicle Technician, you’ll enjoy:

  • Routine servicing and diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
  • In-depth repairs that you’d typically complete in a workshop.
  • Member advice and recommendations based on your inspections.
  • Vehicle safety checks aligned with RAC standards.

Your day will start with a clear digital schedule, allowing you to focus on delivering quality work without the unpredictability of emergency callouts.

Where You’ll Work

You’ll be part of the Bournemouth cluster, covering beautiful areas like Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, and more. Enjoy the freedom of being out on the road, working through a well-organized schedule of appointments.

What Makes SMR Unique?

Our technicians love working in SMR because:

  • Enjoy planned appointments instead of emergency responses.
  • Experience a consistent workflow without unpredictable demands.
  • Focus on in-depth repairs rather than temporary fixes.
  • Have the time and support to do the job right.
  • Utilize clear schedules through RAC’s mobile service platform.

What You’ll Need

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • A Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
  • A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

No CV is required when you apply, and it takes just 5 minutes to start your journey with us!

Why Join Us?

As a Mobile Mechanic at the RAC, you’ll enjoy benefits that go the extra mile:

  • Earnings That Motivate: A competitive base salary of £40,178, with potential earnings up to £52,000 through bonuses and overtime.
  • Opt-in Guaranteed Overtime: Choose to work extra days at £30 per hour, giving you the flexibility to boost your income.

  • Independence in a mobile role
  • The stability and support of a trusted national organization
  • Ongoing development, including future EV and diagnostic skills
  • A role where giving members peace of mind is part of your daily work
