Salary
Starting from: £32,000 per annum
About the Role
As an Assistant Bridge Engineer at Kier Design, you will play a crucial role in delivering exciting highways structures projects for clients like National Highways, SDF, TfL, and the South Wales Trunk Road Agency. You’ll work closely with Lead Engineers to:
- Support the delivery of structures maintenance and new-build schemes
- Produce technical designs and documentation that meet client requirements
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget

Who We’re Looking For
Are you:
- Qualified in Civil Engineering (Degree, HNC, or HND)?
- Working towards Incorporated or Chartered status?
- Experienced or interested in highways structures design?
- Familiar with DMRB / MCHW standards?

Your Responsibilities
As an Assistant Bridge Engineer, you will:
- Support the Lead Engineer in delivering highways structures schemes
- Assist with investigations, inspections, data analysis, and design development
- Produce technical designs, drawings, and documentation
- Undertake site visits and apply relevant standards (DMRB/MCHW)
- Work collaboratively to meet project and utilization targets
- Promote SHEQ, CDM, and Health & Safety compliance across all activities
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for you if you:
- Have a degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering
- Are working towards IEng or CEng status
- Have experience or knowledge of structures design (maintenance or new build)
- Understand DMRB, MCHW, and CDM regulations
- Have experience within an engineering consultancy environment
- Possess strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills
