Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician!

Are you ready to embark on an exciting journey with the RAC's Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) Division? This is not just any role; it's a chance to be part of a new era in mobile repair!

Why Choose Us?

We offer a competitive base salary of £45,370 (including London Weighting Allowance, if applicable), with the potential to earn up to £57,000 through bonuses and overtime. Enjoy:

  • A guaranteed overtime option to boost your earnings.
  • A structured 40-hour work week, with core hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and 1 in 4 Saturdays.
  • Opportunities available in London & Greater London, including Barnett, Bromley, Enfield, Heathrow, Hillingdon, Richmond, Shepherd's Bush, Streatham, and Wembley.

A Different Kind of RAC Role

Welcome to SMR! While the RAC is renowned for roadside rescue, our SMR division focuses on delivering planned, structured repairs and servicing directly to our members—right from their driveway to their workplace car park.

Forget about emergency callouts and unpredictable shifts! Here, you’ll work through a scheduled list of jobs, equipped with the time, tools, and support you need to perform quality work.

Your Daily Adventure

Your day kicks off with a clear digital schedule, where each job is pre-booked and waiting for you. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Routine servicing
  • Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
  • In-depth repairs typically done in a workshop
  • Providing member advice and recommendations based on your inspections
  • Conducting vehicle safety checks aligned with RAC standards

With SMR, you’re not just reacting to breakdowns; you’re delivering planned work that you can prepare for. From day one, you’ll have everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set, and advanced diagnostics.

Why Our Technicians Love SMR

  • Planned appointments instead of emergency responses
  • Consistent workflow without unpredictable demands
  • In-depth repairs rather than temporary roadside fixes
  • Time to do the job right, with built-in support and parts ordering
  • Clear schedules using RAC’s mobile service platform

This role is perfect for technicians who crave variety and independence without the reactive nature of traditional patrol work.

What You’ll Need

  • Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles
  • A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

No CV is required when you apply, and it only takes 5 minutes to start your journey with us!

Benefits That Go the Extra Mile
