Are you ready to make a difference? We’re on the lookout for a passionate Design Engineer to join our dynamic River Infrastructure team in beautiful Bristol. Location: Bristol - with some agile working options available
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - flexible hours can be discussed
Salary: Starting from £36,000 per annum
Sector: Design – Civils River Infrastructure

Are You the Right Fit?

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A Civil Engineer with experience in river engineering or hydraulic infrastructure.
  • Comfortable delivering safe, buildable design solutions in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Confident in using engineering judgement to manage uncertainty and technical risk.
  • Experienced in a consultancy or contractor-led design environment.
  • Passionate about working for a collaborative, trusted, and delivery-focused organization.

Do You Have What It Takes?

To thrive in this role, you should:

  • Hold a degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Bring post-graduate experience in hydraulic structures, river engineering, or similar.
  • Be working towards Chartered or Incorporated status (e.g., CEng MICE).
  • Enjoy learning and developing in new technical areas with team support.
  • Contribute to fee proposals, value engineering, and commercial delivery.
  • Want to work for a highly regarded Main Contractor, recognized as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor.

Your Responsibilities

As a Design Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in our River Infrastructure team. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering civil and river infrastructure design from feasibility through to detailed design.
  • Reviewing and agreeing client briefs, offering alternative solutions where appropriate.
  • Supporting coordination of design activities within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations, Kier SHEMS, and QMS requirements.
  • Contributing to value engineering, fee proposals, and programme delivery.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if:

  • You have a degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • You bring post-graduate experience in hydraulic structures, river engineering, or similar infrastructure.
  • You’re working towards Chartered or Incorporated status (e.g., CEng MICE).
  • You enjoy collaborating within multidisciplinary teams and can apply sound engineering judgement to manage technical risk.
  • You hold a Full driving licence.
