Are you ready to take your skills to the next level? We’re on the lookout for a Maintenance Operative to join our dynamic HS2 team based in Rushden. This is your chance to be part of an exciting project that makes a difference!

Location & Hours

Location: Rushden, with opportunities to work on HS2 sites from Wendover, Buckinghamshire to Southam, Warwickshire.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 to 17:00. We offer some flexibility on hours, so just let us know what works for you!

Your Role

As a Maintenance Operative, you’ll play a vital role in our facilities team, ensuring that our buildings are safe, compliant, and operational. This is a varied position that combines general building maintenance with plumbing tasks, allowing you to showcase your practical skills across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, fixtures, and appliances within the compounds.
  • Carry out general building fabric maintenance, including carpentry and handyman tasks.
  • Complete weekly and monthly Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks such as fire alarm testing, fire extinguisher checks, emergency light testing, and legionnaires checks.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests, resolving issues efficiently and professionally.
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure all buildings remain safe and compliant with health and safety regulations.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if you:

  • Have proven experience in building maintenance, particularly in plumbing and fabric maintenance.
  • Hold valid Water Regulations (WRAS) and legionnaires certification.
  • Possess strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills across both plumbing and general fabric tasks.
  • Have a full driving license and are comfortable traveling between sites.
  • Can work independently and are adept at using mobile job tracking software.
