Are you ready to take your engineering career to the next level? We are on the lookout for a Senior Bridge Engineer to join our dynamic Design team based in Birmingham. With the flexibility of remote working and occasional office visits, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss!

Location

Birmingham - Remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required.

Hours

37.5 hours per week - Enjoy some flexibility in your hours; just let us know what works for you!

Salary

Starting from £45,000 per annum.

Your Role

As part of Kier Design's Structures Team, you will contribute to impactful projects for esteemed clients such as National Highways, TfL, SWTRA, and Local Highway Authorities. Your expertise will be crucial in delivering high-quality structural engineering solutions throughout all project stages, from feasibility to construction.

Are You…

  • An experienced Structures Engineer with a knack for delivering highway structures design to UK standards?
  • Comfortable acting as Lead Designer, managing technical inputs and outputs?
  • Confident across inspection, assessment, design, and construction stages?
  • Familiar with Eurocodes and relevant design software?
  • Able to lead technical delivery with minimal supervision?
  • Passionate about working in a collaborative, trusted, and delivery-focused environment?

Do You…

  • Hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline?
  • Be Chartered or Incorporated, or working towards this (MICE / MIStructE or equivalent)?
  • Deliver technical outputs to agreed time, cost, and quality targets?
  • Carry out and authorize design checks including drawings, reports, and certificates?
  • Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and project teams?
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence?

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Bridge Engineer, you will:

  • Lead the delivery of highway structures design, inspection, and assessment from feasibility through to construction.
  • Act as Lead Designer, coordinating and managing the technical outputs of project teams.
  • Ensure designs comply with standards, client briefs, and quality management systems.
  • Apply value engineering and innovation to enhance safety, buildability, and efficiency.
  • Support and develop engineers, technicians, and graduates within the team.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if:

  • You hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • You’re Chartered or Incorporated (MICE / MIStructE or equivalent), or working towards professional registration.
  • You have experience delivering highway structures design to UK standards, including Eurocodes.
  • You’re comfortable managing technical delivery with minimal supervision and can communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • You hold a Full driving licence.
