Join Our Team as a Highways Maintenance Operative!

Are you ready to make a difference in Birmingham's highways network? We’re on the lookout for a passionate Highways Maintenance Operative to join our dynamic team based at Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham.

Location & Hours

Location: Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham, B7 5HR

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 15:30

Your Role

As a vital member of our arboriculture team, you’ll play a key role in maintaining safe highways and greenspaces. This hands-on position offers a variety of tasks and the chance to collaborate with other teams across the contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively to carry out stump grinding, root pruning, tree pit creation, and re-staking.
  • Set up safe working sites on the highway and engage with the public.
  • Adhere to safe systems of work, risk assessments, and safety procedures at all times.
  • Complete safety-critical emergency works as needed.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork, including LOLER check sheets and HAVS forms.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if:

  • You hold City & Guilds NPTC/Lantra chainsaw and stump grinding qualifications.
  • You have an NRSWA or equivalent operative qualification.
  • You’re qualified in CAT & Genny and have practical experience using them.
  • You hold NPORS (or equivalent) lorry loader with clamshell and timber grab attachments.
  • You possess a full driving licence.
