Mobile Vehicle Technician
Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in Our SMR Division!
Welcome to a new era of mobile repair! At the RAC, we’re not just about roadside rescue; we’re about delivering exceptional service right where our members need it. As part of our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division, you’ll play a vital role in providing planned, structured repairs directly to our members—whether at their driveway or workplace car park.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Mobile Vehicle Technician, you’ll enjoy:
- Routine Servicing: Conduct regular maintenance to keep vehicles in top shape.
- Advanced Diagnostics: Utilize cutting-edge mobile equipment to diagnose issues.
- In-Depth Repairs: Perform repairs typically done in a workshop, right on-site.
- Member Interaction: Provide advice and recommendations based on your inspections.
- Safety Checks: Ensure vehicles meet RAC safety standards.
Your day will start with a clear digital schedule, allowing you to focus on delivering quality work without the unpredictability of emergency callouts. You’ll have everything you need from day one: a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set, and advanced diagnostics.
What Makes SMR Unique?
Our technicians love working in SMR because:
- Enjoy planned appointments instead of emergency responses.
- Experience consistent workflow without unpredictable demands.
- Focus on in-depth repairs rather than temporary fixes.
- Have the time and support to do the job right.
- Utilize RAC’s mobile service platform for clear scheduling.
What You’ll Need
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
- A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
No CV is required when you apply, and it takes just 5 minutes to start your journey with us!
